About this event

With the pandemic (hopefully nearing an end), we've decided to hold our Foresters Council meeting virtually as a Zoom webinar. We hope you'll join us for this free two-hour event on Thursday, May 13.

We'll have DCR updates, legislative updates, and two keynote presentations. Here's the tentative agenda for the meeting:

  1. Welcome and Intro from Mark Mueller, MFA Forester Council Chair
  2. DCR State Lands Forestry Update from Tom Brulé, new DCR State Lands Management Forestry Director
  3. DCR Service Forestry Update from Jennifer Fish, DCR Service Forestry Director
  4. MassWildlife/MFA Joint RCPP presentation from Marianne Piché and Pat Conlin, MassWildlife Habitat Biologists - learn more about this joint grant program funding early successional forest habitat on privately-owned forestland with new details on eligibility
  5. New England Forestry Foundation's new Exemplary Forestry Guidelines for southern New England, presented by NEFF Executive Director Bob Perschel - learn more about how NEFF's Exemplary Forestry guidelines (tailored for southern New England forests) can benefit productivity and carbon sequestration
  6. Brief legislative update from MFA Executive Director Chris Egan

We have applied for continuing education credits for foresters and timber harvesters and they are pending approval. We'll update this page with credit amounts as they are assigned. Please indicate on the registration form if you need credits.
